Add a Subject Line to Discussion Posts in Canvas

Posted: October 8, 2020 | Last Modified: October 9, 2020 Leave a Comment

Subject lines in discussion posts help students scan the posts and find the ones that most interest them. Although Canvas doesn’t have a built-in way to do this, it’s easy to do it manually. Include the subject line as the first line of your discussion post and add bold type, then add two returns before you start the body of  your discussion post.

The subject line should be descriptive. For example:

SUBJECT: Muraski Comments: My experience with ERP Software at Shoe.com
SUBJECT: Topic 2, delivering bad-news about vacation time

See below for an image that shows how this might look in Canvas.
